This is my husband’s humor. He took this photo of our freezer, this morning.
Mine is the mint chip ice cream on the top shelf.
The lower shelf is my husband’s stockpile. (The headline on the photo is his, too. He knows this is too much ice cream for one person.)
Backstory: My husband loves ice cream. It’s his go-to for times when he’s feeling stressed. A dish of ice cream always seems to improve his mood, often for the rest of the day. Or two.
I keep telling him that — short-term — I think it’s more important for him to remain relaxed and upbeat. That’s the best way for us to sort through the pros & cons of where we live and what we’re doing. (So far, we’re not certain Maine is the right place for us.)
My husband agrees. (That’s part of how we’ve remained a mushy-happy couple for the past 20 years. We agree on almost everything. And when we don’t, we can talk it out without either of us getting dogmatic or pouty.)
Anyway…
Even in good weather, our local stores always seem to run out of his favorite ice cream flavors.
That’s especially true in winter, when delivery trucks may be delayed due to blizzards and icy road conditions.
So, yesterday, we stocked up — at two stores — so he’s all set for the foreseeable future.
